Where do your donations go?
2009
Many thanks to the Pedigree Foundation for their recent donation. Their generous donation has helped make it possible to fix our broken pyrs.
2008 brought us a number of "broken Pyrs" that we were able to "reassemble" and keep them on the path to new and loving homes and so far 2009 is following in those footsteps. Great Pyrenees who have ended up in the shelters either as owner surrenders or as strays, needing more than the usual medical attention we are accustomed to such as updates and/or initial shots, worming meds, spay or neuter surgery. Without SPIN these dogs would surely have been lost - SPIN welcomes all Pyrs with wide open arms regardless of age, physical condition or medical needs.
As of August, here is the list of some of the medical needs SPIN has encountered. With the help of the wonderful vets in the DFW area, they are now recovered. Some are still in foster care while others have found their loving "forever" homes and are bringing joy and love to their new families.

Treated for Heartworms - Opal, Carman, Simon, Stacy and Maddie
Treated numerous cases of Kennel Cough which is sadly prevelant in many shelters
And now we come to the saddest part of this list - those we were unable to repair despite our valiant efforts.
Lost 1 pup to Parvo
Battled courageously (both human and canine counterparts) but lost 17 dogs to Distemper
including 12 very young puppies that were among a huge 180 dog SPCA seizure
Lost 1 dog to renal failure
All of those listed above - the saved and the lost - have all touched our hearts deeply. We are thankful and joyful for those we were able to send on to healthy and happy lives and we will always have small holes in our hearts for those lost to us. Your donations and support are a large part of making all of this possible and we send you our heartfelt thanks and the dogs send Pyr Paw hugs and huge, wet, drooly WONDERFUL kisses!!!!!
